1955 Bandini Siluro #358 DOHC Sports Racing Car:

Bandini Siluro #358 sports racing car is now being offered for sale.  This Bandini is one of 46 known Bandinis in the world today and is the only Siluro (torpedo) with a Series 2 twin cam engine.  The engine produces 71 bhp and because the car only weighs 750 pounds, it has amazing acceleration and has been timed at 115 m.p.h.  It retains all of its original metal, from the hand hammered aluminum body to the interior sheet metal.  The fenders on the car are removable and the original tonneau covers the passenger seat which made it eligible to also compete in Formula 3 racing in Italy.  The 750cc Bandini DOHC engine is original to the car.  It was imported to the US in 1958 by TB Davis of Dallas Texas to compete in the SCCA H Modified class.  Its first documented race was the November 15, 1959, Daytona National Championship race with Hugh Grammar driving for Davis.  It was then bought and campaigned by Hugh Grammar in the SCCA Southwest Region where it won the Hmod championship from 1961 to 1963 and finished second in 1964.  Its last known race was the November 14-15, 1964 Riverside American Road Race of Champions.  This Bandini has a continuous ownership history from new and for the last 25 years has been in car collector Jack Reuter's garage.  It has been shown in the 1999 Concorso Italiano, the 2002 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it won a prize and, most recently, at the 2010 Amelia Island Concours where it also won a prize.  This one off timeless classic is hand made Italian rolling sculpture that Cellini would be proud of and is eligible for the most prestigious classic car gatherings in the world including the Mille Miglia Historics, Ville d'Este, and Goodwood to name a few.  Please send all serious inquiries to: cliff@cliffreuter.com.
